City of Selkirk mayor Larry Johannson has proclaimed National Forest Week Sept. 22 to 28.
WHEREAS: Canada’s forests are a valuable, renewable resource that contribute to our economy and the livelihoods of our communities.
WHEREAS: Canada’s forests play a crucial role in maintaining healthy ecosystems, clean air and water and wildlife habitat whilst being an important aspect of climate change mitigation efforts.
WHEREAS: Selkirk and its citizens rely on surrounding forests for livelihood, health and recreation.
WHEREAS: This annual one week campaign with the theme of “Two-Eyed Seeing: Welcoming all knowledge to sustain our forests” will be celebrated across Canada by individuals and organizations.
THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that I, Larry Johannson, Mayor of the City of Selkirk, in the Province of Manitoba do hereby proclaim the week of September 22-28, 2024 to be “National Forest Week” in the City of Selkirk and commend its thoughtful observance to all citizens.
