Despite being defeated by the visiting Edmonton Oilers, the PA announcer at Canada Life Centre announced that the hometown Winnipeg Jets claimed the National Hockey League’s Presidents’ Trophy.

The trophy was presented to the NHL in 1985-86 by the League Board of Governors to recognize the team compiling the top regular-season record.
